RB Men's Executive Golf Club 2008 Club Championship Tournament Results and Luncheon at Bernardo Heights Country Club
Early arrivals await lunch at the Bernardo Heights Country Club after a morning in the fresh air and sunshine at Oaks North Golf Course. The wait was worth it. I opted for baked pecan crusted chicken with fettucini, sun dried tomatoes, red onions, goat cheese and garlic, salad, rolls with butter, dessert, coffee, and a glass of wine.(click on the photos for enlargement)
Tom Oswald (standing in background) returns to his table bearing a nice trophy he won (Flt. A - low net). This sharpshooter also won two prizes for being closest to a designated pin on the 1st round, and closest to a designated pin on the 2nd round!
Club President Al Dahlvig doing a good job presiding over the annual meeting.
Tournament Chairman Walt Greenbaum explaining how close he came to a hole-in-one.
Pete Wasem proudly describing how he earned his trophy by making a hole-in-one on South Course No. 1 (169 yards) on January 24, 2008, using a four iron. I understand he is having the details, including the names of the attesting witnesses, engraved on the trophy.
President Al Dahlvig presents long-iron-player Pete Wasem with a special award for making a hole-in-one on January 24, 2008.
Smiling at the camera is Bill Olds, 1993 Club Champion and Club President in 1991 and 1992. Bill played golf with the likes of Gary Player and Bobby Locke during his younger days as a government official in Johannesburg, South Africa. Also shown are Barrie Smith (center) and Milton Hirsch conversing. Hirsch was 3rd low net in Flight C.
Lloyd Porter, Head Golf Professional, addresses the hungry group.

Walt Freithaler is in race to become RB Men's Executive Club Champion!

He may be an underdog up against the likes of Pat Turner and Mike Huffman, but my money is on high-flying Walt Freithaler who fired a gross 66 (net 55) in the opening round of this tournament. Walt must have played lots of golf on interesting courses during his former career with American Airlines. Good luck, Walter. If you win, the drinks at the Bernardo Heights Country Club luncheon are on you! Bring plenty of cash.(click on the photo to enlarge).
